The standard modern outlet should be providing 120V AC to devices and equipment, but in reality, that is almost never the case. Your geographic location and even what time of day it is can vary the voltage greatly. Most of the time you will receive anywhere from 120V to 129V. That is NOT good for your tube amplifier, OR your ears. Depending on your tube amplifier, a BrownBox user might find that their gear runs optimally at 116-118V, or maybe even as low as 108-110V for some vintage gear. It is certainly impossible for an amplifier designed for 110V or 120V to sound or operate anywhere near the way it should at 129V.
The BrownBox comes to the rescue, and features variable voltage reduction options that let you bring your power input down to your amplifiers optimal level, resulting in significantly improved, stable, and repeatable amplifier performance.
Your sound will be consistent and your tube life vastly extended.
We are so sold on the BrownBox that it is a mandatory accessory for our WNQ amplifier. We find the amplifier's happy voltage spot, and make sure the amp is properly biased to that voltage.
