The CHIME MACHINE is loosely based on another well known and exclusive amplifier which was originally a collaboration between two of my favorite builders, this amplifier has grown it's own personality, and has a reputation few can equal.
The name CHIME MACHINE is telling but not everything. This is an overbuilt beauty with incredible headroom and harmonically rich tones you need to hear to believe. Sonically, this amplifier was designed to deliver harmonically rich clean tones and super sweet breakup.
The amplifier uses a quad of 6N14N-EP tubes. These soviet era New Old Stock (NOS) military tubes are the perfect match for this circuit. These tubes are interchangeable with the EL-84 but they have a tone all their own and are the perfect power tube for this particular design.
The rectifier is a beautiful New Old Stock (NOS) GZ-34. Preamp tubes will vary with every single unit we build as we take customer playing preferences into account. The solitary goal is create the tone each customer is looking for, and this amplifier in particular will react slightly differently depending on the preamp tube compliment chosen.
The CHIME MACHINE is the perfect amp for rock and roll, country, and we have yet to find a style of music this amplifier does not enhance and is VERY big sounding. The CHIME MACHINE is so amazingly touch sensitive, and can generate the kind of harmonics that always bring a smile to the face. Seriously - You need to play this amp!
Building on the standard amplifier controls, the CHIME MACHINE adds several additional features to the arsenal of the player. We have added a half-power switch that removes 2 of the power tubes from the power section. This isn't just about lowering output power, but really can be used as a tone shaping tool. The same goes for the Faster / Warmer switch, which gives you two completely different flavors by changing the plate voltage. Both switch positions sound amazing, and they multiply the ways you can find the sound you thought was un-attainable. You can choose some sag and the slower bloom of notes, or the faster response and all that comes with it.
The "Magic" knob is just that. You don't need to know what it does, you just play and turn it until you find your happiest place. Trust me - You WILL find it, and you WILL be Happy!
The amplifier comes standard as a head / cab set with 2 different 12" Alnico speakers for the most fantastic confluence of tones. The speakers are a combination of our INFINITY "Big-Bad-Blue" Alnico 12", and our "Gold Dust" Alnico 12" that compliment one another to paint a colorful sonic landscape. These speakers are made for us right here in the United States of America.
Our built-in microphone system installs a microphone (two on a 2 x 12" cabinet) on the speakers themselves within the cabinet. XLR outputs are provided for studio and live applications allowing each speaker to be mixed separately for maximum control.
