The Tube-Vibe™ is a radical new kind of vibe pedal built using old-school thermionic technology!
Instead of transistors, this psychedelic phasing machine utilizes vacuum tubes, photocells and a pulsating filament lamp to generate rich, swirling, phase-blurred chorus and vibrato effects.
The Tube-Vibe™ is a no-compromise re-design of the Shin-Ei Shiftee Uni-Vibe used to create many classic recordings by artists such as David Gilmour, Robin Trower and Jimi Hendrix.
This innovative effects pedal contains the same four photocells, light bulb and stagger-tuned capacitors as the original Tube-Vibe™ , however instead of budget transistors it utilizes premium vacuum tubes in the pre-amplifier, mixer and phase-shift circuitry. High-quality , audio grade components coupled with this pure tube signal path give the Tube-Vibe™ a velvet richness and dimensional tone which was unattainable with the Tube-Vibe™ – your guitar tone will remain pristine and intact with no loss of lows or highs. The lamp/photocell driver circuit is capable of super smooth sweeps and deep, swampy tones for a powerful and distinct signature vibe sound. The resulting audio quality is outstanding – significantly better than the original or any of the modern vibe reissues!

Like the Shin-Ei Uni-Vibe, the Tube-Vibe™ is based on the Hammond AO-41 organ vibrato unit. But, unlike the Tube-Vibe™ , the Tube-Vibe’s pre-amp, mixer and phase-shifter sections are built using vacuum tubes. Further, the Tube-Vibe features a dual LFO (Low Frequency Oscillator) that generates thick, swampy vibe tones at higher modulation rates and smooth, shimmering chorus effects at slower rates. The effect is outrageously cool... It’s the lushest, most psychedelic sounding guitar pedal there is. A device that epitomizes analog with it’s unique, liquid, phase-blurred tone — Impossible to simulate!
The Tube-Vibe™ handles passive single coils or “hot” active humbucker pickups effortlessly. The Tube-Vibe™ is immune to high signal levels which would undoubtedly cause severe clipping distortion in solid-state vibe pedals.
Typically, the Tube-Vibe™ ships with a 12AU7 tube in its input stage for stunningly clean vibe tones and maximum headroom. Want more gain and growl? We can swap out the 12AU7 out for a higher gain variety, such as a 12AY7 or 12AX7. A 12AY7 will thicken up the tone of a “Strat”, and a 12AX7 will push tube amps into overdrive for some serious sustain.

Chorus/Vibrato Switch: Selects between the classic Hendrix/Trower Uni-Vibe chorus and Gilmourish pitch-shifting vibrato.
All Tube: Vacuum tube circuitry operating at real amp plate voltages for low background noise and stacks of headroom—the ultimate in audiophile performance!
The signal path is 100% analog and the tubes operate at real amp plate voltages. Further, D.C. powered tube heaters ensure lowest possible noise.

High input impedance: Your guitar pickup “sees” a 1MΩ tube amp input stage, ensuring a wide, open and clear tone. In comparison, the input resistance of the Uni-Vibe is only 69KΩ. This is low enough to load single coil pickups and dull the tone of the guitar.
Dual LFOs: The “Classic” setting authentically replicates the deep, lopsided throb of the Tube-Vibe™ . The “Smooth” setting produces the dreamy, ethereal meta-chorus of a Hammond B-3. Further, the LFO can be halted (frozen) so that it operates as a sweepable notch filter creating hollow sounding scooped tones.
True Bypass Switching: Effectrode’s unique “anti-pop” foot-switching circuitry utilizes a sealed, gold-contact audio relay, rather than a clunky mechanical footswitch.
“Dakaware” Knobs: Bakelite Dakaware Chicago 1510 knobs custom manufactured for Effectrode in the U.S.A using the original 1940s molds.
